WZL/Strauch

data intelligence & automation for human-centered factories.

The Center Smart Assembly on RWTH Aachen Campus promotes the idea of resilient and sustainable assembly systems and its necessitated metrology-assisted production chains. Its members are enabled to apply cutting-edge technologies, such as omnidirectional conveyance systems, self-optimizing processes and agile reconfiguration measures facilitated by Cyber-Physical Production Systems.

The assembly process of parts and products is experiencing fundamental changes due to new technologies from Industry 4.0. The Center Smart Assembly offers a platform for the transfer of ideas regarding lineless assembly systems and acts as a matchmaker between industrial needs and academic knowledge. It is part of the Production Engineering Cluster one of the largest research laboratories for production engineering and Industrie 4.0 in Europe.
