Assembly, as part of the value chain, is most affected by product variants and sales fluctuations. Innovative assembly systems, organized according to the paradigm of matrix production and line-less assembly systems, promise resilience, flexibility and sustainability potentials. However, their practical implementation remains a challenge.
Therefore, our goal is to collaboratively derive a guideline for the implementation of matrix-like and line-less production systems. A scenario analysis will be carried out based on your business cases.
Three stages will be carried out.
- Stage 1 – Status Quo Assessment
- Stage 2 – Guideline Development
- Stage 3 – Decision Support
The study’s results are developed collaboratively by the Center XL Assembly, the Chair of Production Metrology and Quality Management as well as the Chair of Production Engineering of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University.
We will commence at the end of 2023 and present the final results in autumn 2024.
The consortia size is intended to comprise a minimum of nine industrial partners, that may be solution providers as well as assembly system and production system operators, to provide a networking platform.
